These are the basic steps that every man should have a product for in their medicine cabinet. Depending on your skin type and condition, you may need to add specific products to your regimen.
Step 1: Cleanser
The first step in taking care of your skin is to get it clean.
You can apply your cleanser in the shower; Just rub it in around every area of your face using circular motions with your fingers. This will remove any dirt, oil, debris, and bacteria from your skin, which is often the cause of acne for many people.
Make sure to use your cleanser in the morning when you wake up, and before you go to bed.
Step 2: Toner
Using a toner is especially necessary for those of us with acne or ingrown hairs. A toner balances the ph levels of the skin and helps make sure you’ve gotten all of the oil and dirt off of your face before moving on to the next steps in your skin-care routine.
Toners also help the skin retain moisture and protects your pores from collecting debris.
If your toner is in a spray bottle, hold it 3 feet away from your face and spray with your eyes closed three times.
If it’s bottled without a spray attachment, rub in the toner with your finger tips like you would with your cleanser.
Step 3: Moisturizer
Moisturizing your skin can accelerate healing, fight wrinkles, and can even help slow or stop the presence of acne. Especially if like most people, you take hot showers before or after your day. Hot water strips the oils from your face that help keep your face hydrated. When your skin is dry, your face will go into overdrive and produce too much oil, which can cause acne.
Moisturize your skin at the beginning and end of every day to keep your skin acne-free, looking young, and wrinkle-free. Apply a light amount in the mornings, and a heavier amount before you go to sleep. Use your finger tips to rub it into all areas of your face, but remember to be careful on the skin below the eyes as it is more sensitive.
Step 4: SPF
The last thing you should apply before your skin-care routine is complete is a SPF lotion. Even if you’re only outside for 5 minutes, the sun emits harmful radiation that over time, can cause dark spots, aging, and even skin cancer.
SPF lotion will help protect your skin from the sun and will help you look young and healthy for a very long time.
You only need to apply SPF in the morning.
